Documenting the ancestry and descendants of an East Texas community by creating a family tree of over 2000 people. Helping people discover family they didn’t know existed. Complex deduction of ancestry by cross-referencing documents and databases spread across time and place. Producing documents illustrating ancestry.
Designed and prototyped customer and employee-facing, web-based interfaces for financial transactions and other complex processes for domains including property insurance, life insurance, banking, and internal customer portal. Governed the UI standards for employee-facing web-applications. Championed modern JavaScript practices and tools. Supervised graphic designs. Championed end user accessibility across all channels: web, mobile, and telephone. Worked in Agile/Scrum methodologies since 2010.
Architected and extensively documented a new Content Management and Delivery System to be used to launch and maintain all promotional web pages. Collaborated with Technical Architects to define database schema. Reconciled existing functionality against documentation to facilitate design of feature enhancements. Updated documentation (functional and interface) for their International Affiliate Network system, internal-, affiliate-, and end-user-facing.

Designed user interfaces, created and maintained functional specifications documents that included use cases, diagrams (workflow, process, logic, structure), wireframes, and mock-ups. Collaborated with the Technical Architects to define transition points between client-facing UI / front-end and company-side / back-end systems. Tracked each project through development to ensure accurate execution of design. Collaborated with architects and business managers to design version 2 of their integrated Content and Contact Management System.

Designed, developed, deployed, and maintained B2B client websites and on-line marketing efforts. Developed and implemented strategy for direct mail and Internet-based marketing. Performed all necessary programming (JavaScript, AppleScript, Perl, Flash + ActionScript) for development and production.
A Creative Staffing Agency
Through Aquent I worked on projects large and small for dozens of firms, listed below. Project durations varied from one day to eleven months.
As Sr. Web Developer, I was responsible for realizing the creative director’s designs. After assuming the position of Creative Director, I supervised three junior web developers.
As the only designer repeatedly requested to return, I provided Web America with a wide array of design solutions: graphics for product installation CDs, corporate collateral, Web ad banners, direct mail pieces with custom envelopes, screen icons, presentation materials, illustrations, and graphics for Web and print.
Primary responsibilities included oversight of fifteen Macintosh workstations, configuration/maintenance of the Mac ethernet router and of the bridge connecting the Mac ethernetwork with the PC token ring, management of the data recovery schema, and the general integration of Macs into the Windows network.
A senior member of the team assembled to create the 50th anniversary product catalog. Supervised 3 designers and created graphic standards for the catalog. Administered the network and 6 Mac workstations, designed a back-up scheme, and rebuilt and maintained the server.
I started the day as a graphic designer, but I had to become a system admin to save their computers from a bad upgrade. For one computer I had to manually rebuild its hard-drive’s partition map!

Graphic design and prepress for a local rock group.
Designed and developed their website in Flash.
Designed CD and cassette graphics and typography as well as company collateral.
Assisted the database developer in developing and deploying a system for storing and cataloging thousands of Field Transmittal Memoranda documenting billions of dollars of expenditures. Designed user interface to meet the needs of the executive assistants who used the system to prepare reports.
Reformatted regulatory documents to improve their readability and standardize their presentation.
Assisted in the creation and proofing of construction documents (working drawings) for Whole Foods Markets.
Assisted the construction managers by keeping all construction documents up to date and correct. Allowed sundry design decisions and alerted the managers to engineering flaws. Produced detailed sections and elevations of the temple to guide the Indian craftsmen.
